PARLIAMENTARY WORK

What does Jeremy do in Ottawa?

Serving as your Member of Parliament is an incredible honour and one that I cherish week in and week out. An average week in Ottawa includes Question Period, debating bills and motions in the House Chamber, meetings with local organizations, committee, and a weekly meeting with the entire Conservative caucus.

As your Member of Parliament, I had the pleasure and privilege of serving on two committees in the 44th Parliament:

Each committee meets twice weekly for a two-hour meeting while the House is sitting (and can be watched live, or attended in person). Committee can make up a bulk of my Parliamentary workload, working to get answers from a government that doesn’t like giving them.

The House of Commons:

The Parliament of Canada is comprised of two chambers:

The Senate (the Upper House), and the House of Commons (the Lower House).

The House of Commons is composed of 343 elected Members of Parliament.

It sits roughly 26 weeks per year.

During sitting weeks, it is in session from 10am-7pm Monday to Thursday, and 10am-2:30pm on Friday so Members can return to their riding.
